FIESTAS & FESTIVALS Jan 23 -24 Feast of Ina Poon Bato in Botolan (This is one of the biggest Religious Festivals in Zambales, attracting over 300,000 devotees every year) April. Mango Festival in Iba A spectacular display of Local Foods and specializes based around the "Zambales Mangos" which are rated in the Guinness Book of Records as "The sweetest Mangos in the World" There is also "Street Dancing" and many competitions such as "Sand Castling" also large and comprehensive agricultural displays. May 3 & 4 Domorokdok Festival in Botolan This Festival is fast becoming one of the most popular in Zambales, also incorporating "Miss Botolan" and "Miss Botolan Tourism" beauty quests, this is a 2 day spectacular of Street Dancing, Bands, Beauty contests all culminating in the competition of the "Best and most colorful Street Dancing group" in the Municipality |
ATTRACTIONS BEACHES: Zambales offers 173 kilometers of pristine un-crowded Beaches, fast becoming popular with both Local and International Tourists. MOUNTAINS: Mount Tapalao (also known as "High Peak") is situated behind Salaza Palauig. Boasting some of the most spectacular natural rain forest is the area. It is a great place to hike, even for novice hikers. RIVERS: Many areas of Zambales host spectacular Mountain Rivers and streams, great places to picnic, swim and relax. Most are easily accessible. CAVES: The Sagrada Famila Caves located in Sta. Cruz are a real adventure, reasonably accessible they offer a great opportunity to explore these limestone wonders. TURTLES: The entire Zambales coastline is an Internationally recognized breeding ground for endangered Marine Turtles, some Resorts in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Environment Protection of Asia Foundation have Turtle Hatcheries located in the Resorts, these are located in San Antonio (Punta De Uian) Botolan (Rama International Beach Resort) and in Iba (Palmera Garden Beach Resort and Hotel) The major breeding season is from October to January. WILDLIFE FARM: Zambales is one of the few Provinces with a Wildlife farm featuring both exotic and local wildlife
